10 weeks *Throwing* Wednesday Jan - Mar ‘24

BEGINNER AND INTERMEDIATE

This course primarily focuses on developing fundamental skills for working with clay on the potter's wheel.

You will learn essential skills in throwing basic forms such as cylinders and bowls. You will also learn how to transform these forms into mugs and cups by pulling handles. We will show how to apply textures and surface decorations using various tools, found objects and decorating slips, if you’re interested.

For those with advanced skills, we are happy to offer guidance on more challenging projects and techniques.

The course finishes with a dedicated glazing session. The glazed pieces will be fired within a week or a month, depending on our firing schedule.

Please note that the cost of materials and firing is not included in the course fee. If you wish to keep any of your pieces, there will be a firing fee based on the weight (55p per 100g of clay) and the kiln space required for larger pieces (taller than 25cm, flat pieces larger than 20cm diameter).

This course will take place once a week on Wednesday evenings, for a total of 10 weeks between 8th January and 12th March ‘25. Each session will be held from 6:30PM to 9:00 PM.
